TIMELINE

Sep - Dec 2022

OVERVIEW OF MY EXPERIENCE

In the fall of 2022, I had the opportunity to intern at theScore as a member of the Product Design Communications team. During my time there, I gained experience in both UX design and marketing. I worked on a variety of projects and spent 6 weeks on a co-op project collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.

In my specific role, I designed a widget for the new web launch and iterated wireframes for an upcoming branding project. I worked closely with designers, product managers, developers, and UX researchers, and assisted the research team in collecting internal data and taking notes during user interviews. This data was then incorporated into our designs. Overall, it was a fantastic experience that allowed me to grow both personally and professionally.

PROJECT 1

✨ Project Shine

This project aims to give theScore designers a platform to showcase their work and establish a presence within their web ecosystem. As a member of the cross-functional team, I participated in user research interviews and contributed to the ideation of design solution

PROJECT 2

⚾️ Onboarding Cards

At theScore, we welcome new hires by creating personalized "baseball" cards as part of their onboarding package. As part of my daily workflow, I was in charge of completing the templates for these cards.

PROJECT 3

πŸͺ™ MVP of Product Management

Our team was challenged to pitch a product that would improve theScore Bet’s retention rates. Our team proposed the idea of a profit boost token marketing campaign. Read more about our idea by clicking the button below.

HIGHLIGHTED PROJECTS

During my internships, these were the projects I focused my time on the most.

REFLECTION

I initially overlooked the auto-layout feature because I found it confusing to learn. This turned out to be a costly mistake. While it might be possible to "eyeball" the design for smaller projects, it is simply not practical for larger projects to manually adjust every single screen. Using auto-layout can greatly improve efficiency and maximize productivity.

Here are some of my key takeaways from my internship ⬇️

⭐️ Take Initiative

There is always something that can be done to improve a business approach, whether it be refining the current design system or learning a new skill to enhance the design process. Even when the main task is completed, it is important to think like a user and find ways to make the product better.

✍️ Keep Iterating

As a designer working across different teams, I learned that the final designs often require approval from various stakeholders before development. This experience taught me how to receive feedback objectively, as the ultimate goal is to create a successful product. In my experience, the first iteration is rarely the final version.
